CHERRELLE
Get ready to groove with the legendary Cherrelle at Mayfest! She's headlining the event on Saturday, May 18th, at May Park in Augusta, Georgia. The festivities kick off at noon and run until 6:00 pm, with Cherrelle taking the stage at 5:20 pm.
Cherrelle, born Cheryl Norton in Los Angeles, California in 1958, is a soul singer who skyrocketed to fame as one of the premier female R&B divas of the mid-to-late 1980s. Not only is she the cousin of pop singer and TLC founder Perri "Pebbles" Reid, but Cherrelle's music career began after being discovered by Clarence Avant, founder of Tabu Records, who signed her in 1983.
Under the production genius of Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Cherrelle released her debut album "Fragile" in 1984, which went gold, featuring the Top Ten R&B single "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On." She continued her success with the best-selling album "High Priority" in 1985, boasting hits like "You Look Good to Me" and "Saturday Love," her iconic duet with Alexander O'Neal.
Throughout the late '80s and early '90s, Cherrelle maintained her prominence with hits like "Everything I Miss at Home" and "More than a Woman." Her collaboration with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis continued to define her sound, culminating in her 1999 album "The Right Time."
Cherrelle's influence extends far beyond her own hits; pop icons like Robert Palmer and Mariah Carey have covered her songs, showcasing the enduring appeal of her music. Don't miss your chance to experience one of R&B's most iconic voices live at Mayfest!

closeDanny Boy
Danny Boy originally signed for a five-year run with Death Row Records by Suge Knight at the age of 16. He made his debut on 1994's Murder Was the Case soundtrack with the R&B track "Come When I Call" (produced by DJ Quik). In 1995, he released his first single titled "Slip N Slide" (produced by Reggie Moore and co-produced by DeVante Swing) with then-unknown artist Ginuwine singing the chorus. The video for the song was shot in Cabo, and also features scenes with 2Pac, Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, and Tha Dogg Pound. Danny is best known for singing the choruses of the 2Pac songs "I Ain't Mad at Cha", "What'z Ya Phone #", "Picture Me Rollin'" and "Heaven Ain't Hard 2 Find" on All Eyez on Me, as well as "Toss It Up" on The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory. He had recorded several albums' worth of music while on Death Row Records, but none were released during his time there.
Danny Boy also made an appearance on Tha Row's soundtrack to Eddie Griffin's Dysfunktional Family and also appeared on American Idol, but was disqualified due to continued Internet promotion by his former label. He is currently working on some projects for his own label, Eclectic Soul Music Group, and resides in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia. On April 20, 2010, Death Row Records, under new management, finally released Danny Boy's 1996 debut album It's About Time featuring production by DJ Quik and DeVante Swing.
